With help! The hardest hurdle to overcome was actually convincing my husband. After talking with our CPA , my husband felt more comfortable and was onboard. We then combined forces with my brother and sister-in-law who have also been wanting to get into STR and we created a budget and a plan. We found the right house for us and the rest is history!

My husband’s heart will forever belong in the mountains. He grew up in Vermont , still has family residing there and we visit VT VERY often. This felt like a safe investment as we have help down the road if needed and know that we would be so happy living in this house if that is where the future takes us!

We did and I will do a blog about this soon. The way we did it was purchase the house as an individual (my husband and I) then during the closing we did a quit claim and transferred the deed into the business. I created an LLC that will be filing as an SCorp. Talk with your lawyer and your CPA to see which is the best way to go!
Before
The house was sold fully furnished and we were very lucky and happy to have some of the pieces left behind. We wanted to embrace what was left behind but also bring in a more modern feel as well as increase sleeping capacity to fit the STR crowd we were aiming for.
After
The goal was to update but still keep the feel of a cozy ski getaway and to increase the amount of people we could comfortably accommodate inside the house appealing to a larger STR crowd.
